United Nations have denied the statement made by Dr.Shainee
UN has denied the claims made by Dr.Shainee yesterday regarding the all party talks. Dr.Shainee said that the President did not decline the UN’s invitation to join as a mediator between the government and the opposition.
However the deputy Spokesperson of UN SG, Farhan Haqq said that the President informed the UN that he does not want to do it at this time. In addition Haqq said that they are closely monitoring the situation in the Maldives.
While Dr.Shainee said that the President did not decline UN’s offer, he was not aware that PPM also stated that they will not take part in any talks with foreigners as mediators.
Dr.Shainee has made many controversial claims recently. Some say that Dr.Shainee act as the home minister as well after he made some comments indicating that the police reported to him regarding some matters.
