Government says that Maldives will not interfere in the Kashmir issue and asks India not to interfere in domestic affairs of Maldives

Government of Maldives has called India not to interfere in domestic affairs of Maldives and said that Maldives will not interfere in Kashmir issue.

In a press conference held at the President Office for foreign journalists, Fisheries Minister Dr.Shainee said that Maldivian officials do not go and offer to be mediators in Kashmir issue, because it is an internal issue of India.

He said that what Maldives is facing currently is an internal problem of Maldives and questioned why Maldives should not have the chance to solve it without outside interference.

He said that if Maldives requires any assistance, the first request for help would be from India. Meanwhile, Dr.Shainee did not say what kind of assistance Maldives provides to India even though India assists Maldives in various ways.

Speaking at today’s press conference officials of the government stated that what’s going on in the Maldives at the moment is an internal issue and that Maldives has the capability to solve it.
