Supreme Court has invalidated the High court ruling against Villa where the High Court ruled that the state terminated the lease agreements made with villa lawfully.

The Supreme Court today ruled that the state terminated the contracts made with Villa unlawfully. Villa Group first filed the case at the Civil Court and the Civil Court ruled in Villa’s favor. However the state appealed at the High Court and the High Court ruled in the state’s favor. Villa Group then appealed the case at the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court annulled the High Court’s ruling and upheld the verdict of the Civil Court.

Hence, the agreements made with Villa Group and the government on 12th December 2013 will be valid starting from today.

Even though Islamic Shariah clearly forbids that no rulings can be made based on the intention, the government terminated the contracts based on this. Even though this case was in the appeal process, the government filed cases against Villa in the Civil Court to obtain 188 million dollars as fines and rent from Villa Group.
