High Court has revoked the Criminal Court ruling exonerating JP deputy leader Abdullah Riyaz and has ruled that he is guilty of obstructing a law enforcement officer.
In March 2017, Riyaz was charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer after he refused to unlock his phone for the police.
In this case, Criminal Court ruled that he was not guilty. However High Court has nullified the Criminal Court ruling and hence Riyaz will be sentenced to jail for 4 months and 24 days.

Riyaz who was also a former commissioner of Police is in detention even now. He has been charged with terrorism and the court has ordered to detain him until the end of the trial.
