President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a congratulatory message ‎to the Prime Minister Designate of Malaysia, His Excellency Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamed, on being elected as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The President’s message reads as follows: ‎

Your Excellency’s exceptional legacy of proven statesmanship and commitment to nation-building has prevailed over the years since you last held office, and your re-election manifests the firm trust and confidence that the people of Malaysia continue to place in you to take on a new promising chapter of development and progress.

Malaysia has always been a sincere friend and a steadfast development partner of the Maldives. I remain confident that the two countries will further continue to develop a dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship. I look forward to elevating our win-win cooperation even further in the interest of both our peoples and our countries.
