HDC Starts “Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy”

Housing Development Corporation HDC, has started a Holy Quran Recitation Comtetition in the Name of “Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy” today at Ghaazee School, Hulhumalé.

This competition is the first of its kind. It started today (25th May) and will continue until tomorrow (26th May).

This year’s competition was opened for schools in Hulhumalé, in which schools carried out the selection process of the students who will take part in the competition.

As such, a total of 51 students from Rehendhi School, Ghaazee School, and Gateway International School took part in this year’s competition.

The competition is divided into three categories; “Reading from the book”, “Reading by heart category” and “Hafiz category”.

Each of these categories are divided into 3 sub-categories. “Reading from the book category” is divided into the sub-categories of “5 chapters as per standards of tajweed”, “10 chapters as per standards of tajweed”, and “15 chapters as per standards of tajweed”.

“Reading by heart” category is divided into 2, 4, and 6 “chapters as per standards of tajweed”.

First, second and third place will be awarded in each category and sub category. In addition, the top school will be awarded in ‘reading from the book’ and ‘reading by heart’. The top school of the whole competition will also be chosen.

“Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy” was initiated with the purpose of celebrating the Holy month of Ramadan by providing the students of Hulhumalé community the opportunity to participate in such a competition.
