Leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim have said that those on the right path will win and that it is the promise of Allah. He further said that with the will of Allah, JP will win this time.
Speaking at a ceremony held to welcome former MP and Chairperson of MDP Ali Waheed to JP, Qasim said that he wants to govern JP like parties in other civilized countries. Qasim said that after 10th June JP will hold their congress. “In the congress, the party’s constitution will be changed and the position of party president will be introduced and this will open new opportunities for members of the party” said Qasim.
Qasim said that JP is the most successful party because no party has won the elections without the help of JP. “That is why most people envy us” said Qasim.
Qasim said that even if some say that he is not the leader of JP, that is not how it is. He said that non of his rights cannot be curtailed unless the Criminal Court verdict on him is appealed at higher courts. He said that hence he will be the MP of Maamigili constituency till the Supreme Court reaches a decision on his case.
“On what basis are they talking about me like this ? The statement issued by the court while I was admitted at the hospital is a verdict?” questioned Qasim.
Speaking about his son’s imprisonment, Qasim said that his son did not commit any crime. In addition he spoke about the amendment brought to constitution preventing people above the age of 65 from competing in presidential election. Qasim said that he even voted for the amendment so that the government might leave him alone, but the government did not do so.
