Elections Commission have stated that they do not accept the primary elections of MDP and that they will take action against the party.
Member of EC, Ahmed Akram said that what MDP did yesterday was against the law and hence they will take action against the party. He said that they will decide what action they will take during the next meeting of EC.
The only person who contested in the primary election was former President Nasheed and the EC ordered not to include him in the primary because he has been jailed for 13 years.
The commission also obtained a cease warrant from the Civil Court and tried to stop the primary.
