President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that exchanging Eid greetings and well wishes within the Muslim community is part of good Islamic conduct and that the festive occasion of Eid is a time to meet up with one another in the spirit of unity. He made this remark in his address to the nation on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.

The President conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings and well wishes to the all Maldivian citizens, and extended his greetings to the Leaders and the fraternal people of all Islamic countries.

President Yameen has also stated that Eid is the time to specially remember those who are less fortunate around the world; while highlighting the importance of empathy, offering prayers and extending a helping hand.
