President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has extended greetings to the people of the Maldives and to the Islamic ummah on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.

The President also sent Eid greetings to the Leaders of Islamic countries and to the Heads of Islamic Organisations.

Noting that Eid ul-Fitr was also an occasion to help people in need, the President highlighted that in this Eid, we should try and strengthen our familial relations.

In his message, President Yameen also called for further promotion of unity and friendship among the Islamic Ummah.

The President also noted the plight of the Palestinian brothers and sisters in this time of Eid. He called all to feel their sufferings and he made dua to make them victorious in their Jihad against the oppression of the Jewish occupation.

He said that he condemns the atrocities being committed by the Israeli state against Palestinians.
