Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb regarding his role in the lease of Fushidhiggaru falhu to a New Zealand company for 50 years.

The area was leased to the company during his tenure as Tourism Minister in the cabinet of former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.

Adeeb’s lawyers stated in their testimony given to ACC that Adeeb signed the agreement as a witness, while Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad signed the agreement on behalf of the Government.

The case was submitted by Sandhaanu Ahmed Didi two years ago. He had met the Commission many times regarding the delays in reviewing the case. In addition to raising awareness on the issue on many political platforms, he had held press conferences as well.

Ahmed Didi had served in former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s cabinet as Human Rights Ambassador.

Civil Court had also reviewed some of the cases related to the sale of Fushidhiggaru.
