Sewage system for 5 Islands of Addu City to be established within 15 months!

Environment ministry has contracted with two different companies with developing the sewage system of Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo Feydhoo and Hulhumeedhoo within 15 months.

In a ceremony held at SHE building, MTCC was contracted with developing the sewage system for Feydhoo, Maradhoo and MAradhoo Feydhoo.

Hulhumeedhoo sewage system project was contracted with Sierra, a Sri Lankan company. Over 38 kilometers of pipes should be installed in Maradhoo, Maradhoo Feydhoo and Feydhoo. The total cost of the project is 140.6 million Rufiyaa. In Hulhumeedhoo 30.1 kilometer of pipes should be installed and the project is worth 113.9 million Rufiyaa. Treatment plants are to be established in both these areas as well. The project is funded by EPID and the government.

CEO of MTCC, Ibrahim Ziyath and officials from Sierra company said that they will be able to complete the project within the given period. Minister Thoriq said that the government’s projects are not just dreams and that these projects will be completed within 12 to 15 months. In addition, the minister said that the work of sewage system in Hithadhoo is going on now and that project is conducted by MWSC and Fenaka Corporation.
