Foreigners with work visas can arrive and depart Maldives through Gan Airport starting from 1st March !

Maldives Immigration has stated that, they have planned to allow foreigners with work visas to arrive and depart Maldives via Gan International Airport.
A press release by the immigration states that starting from 1st March that service will be available and that they have informed the airlines about the decision as well.
The statement also says that, even though there are scheduled international flights from Gan International Airport, so far foreigners with work visas were not able to depart and arrive through the airport in the last three months because the immigration department was not ready.
International scheduled flights started to Gan International Airport on 1st December 2016. However even before from time to time chartered flights operate to Gan airport.
