Correctional Service responds to Mahloof’s statements about Adheeb

Correctional Service has responded to MP for Galhohu constituency Ahmed Mahloof’s statements about former Vice President Adheeb.
Mahloof claimed that Adheeb is being held in a ‘concrete cave’ in Maafushi Jail. Correctional Service stated that this was a lie and that Adheeb is inside an ordinary cell which is similar to the ones other prisoners are kept as well. They said that they do not discriminate Adheeb and that they do not hold anyone in ‘concrete cells’.
In addition, they stated that all prisoners are treated humanely and given food that is suitable for humans.
Earlier this month Mahloof released a statement saying that Adheeb is in a small ‘concrete cave’ and that the government does not care about his health issues. Mahloof said that some other inmates are also in this condition.
