President of the Civil Service Commission Dr.Ali Shameem have said that most number of civil servants were trained last year in the past 9 years.
Speaking in a ceremony held at the commission to release the annual report and to sign an agreement with finance ministry, Dr.Shameem said that 5687 staffs were trained at the Civil Service Training Institute last year.
Those include 54 personnel up to diploma level, 331 staffs up to certificate level and 5302 short term courses. Dr.Shameem said that in the past year there were 24501 civil servants in the Maldives and the majority of them are women.
There are 13620 female staffs and that is around 55.5 percent of the total number of civil servants. Dr.Shameem said that most of the women work as teachers.
Dr.Shameem said that based on the population of 2014, there was one civil servant per 14 people.
