President Yameen have said that, even though several institutions are created to provide services to the people, the government has the overall responsibility in providing services to the people.

Speaking at a rally held by PPM on Friday night, the president said that while the second term of the Male’ council is almost over they have not been able to solve the problem of flooding in Male’ during monsoon seasons. He said that as a result many houses especially in Mafannu gets flooded when it rains.

President said that, the government is working on to solve these problems and have already repaired many streets. The president said that the government could not bear to see the flood on the streets and solved it. He also highlighted that the government has reclaimed land in Male’ and is conducting various projects in the reclaimed area.

In addition, he said that there should be no difference between citizens of Male’ and other islands. He said that all the people should have equal opportunities and the government works in that regard. He said that it is not a barrier to be from an island and he noted that he is half Velidhoo.
