Police confiscates narcotics worth 30 million Rufiyaa.

Narcotics worth 30 million Rufiyaa has been confiscated in a joint operation conducted by Maldives Police Service and Maldives Customs.
In this operation 15 people were arrested at 23 kilograms of narcotics were confiscated by the police. The deputy head of customs, Aminath Suzy said that among the 15 people who were arrested there were two women as well.
According to Suzy, based on intel received to Customs, the operation was conducted from 13thJune to 16th June. She said that all those who were arrested were part of a large-scale drug trafficking network. In this operation 5 places were checked from Hulhumale’.
On 15th June 5 premises from Hulhumale’ were searched under a court warrant” said Suzy. Suzy said that 18 kilograms of cannabis was confiscated from these places and more than 100,000 Rufiyaa was found as well.
This operation is one of the largest drug busts in recent times.
