President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to the President of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, following the landslide in Sichuan Province.

The President's message reads as follows;
"I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news of the landslide in Sichuan Province, causing the loss of lives and extensive damages to property and infrastructure."

"At this time of national tragedy and mourning, I extend my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and profound sympathies to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of China."

"Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
