So far no courts have responded to Qasim Ibrahim’s request for permission to leave Maldives for treatment. Two letters were sent to the Criminal Court and one has been sent to the Supreme Court.

The Secretory General of JP Ahmed Sameer said that they are really concerned that they have not received any response from the Criminal Court and the Supreme Court.

“Qasim is not under any detention yet still he is faced with this. Lot of people are concerned about this” said Sameer.

Without knowing that the Criminal Court has ordered Qasim Ibrahim’s passport to be withheld, Qasim tried to leave abroad on 16th July. However he was stopped at the airport. Since then Qasim is being treated at the ICU if ADK Hospital.
