At the invitation of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Prime Minister of Pakistan His Excellency Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif have arrived in the Maldives this afternoon.

The Pakistani Prime Minister and Begum Kalsoom were greeted on arrival at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, by President Yameen and Madam Fathimath Ibrahim. Upon arrival, Pakistani Prime Minister then proceeded to inspect a Guard of Honour by the Maldives National Defence Force.

After arrival, President Yameen and First Lady met with the Pakistani Prime Minister and Begum Kalsoom in the VVIP Lounge of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
During the three day visit, the two leaders will hold official talks. A number of Memorandums of Understanding for cooperation in various fields are to be signed today.
