MD of STO, Ahmed Shaheer have said that the subsidiary companies of STO are successful in terms of providing goods and services at affordable prices to the people.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the new fuel shed opened at Hulhumale’ by Fuel Supply Maldives, Shaheer said that they started subsidiary companies of STO with very good intentions. “The companies were formed to provided necessary services to the people at low cost. FSM was formed to provide fuel to the whole country at low cost. They are achieving the purpose of their formation” said Shaheer.

Shaheer said that the different ventures started by President Yameen while he was the chairman of STO is benefitting the people today. “Gas company, Maldive Gas which was created to supply gas at affordable prices to the people is supplying gas to the whole country” said Shaheer.

In addition he said that when the price of cement went up in the markets, STO started preparing cement and this resulted in 30 percent decrease in the price of cement in the markets. He said that the price of cement is stable because of this.

“If we look at roofing sheets, it was very expensive back then. From the work STO started with a foreign company, we managed to decrease the price of roofing sheets. Now we are providing sheets of various sizes to the whole country” said Shaheer.

Shaheer said that STO was created years ago to provide services to the people and that STO will remain that way.
