Describing the Maldivian youth as an economic asset of the country, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated the administration’s commitment to empowering the youth. The President made this remark while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the “Empowering the next – 1000 Photographers” training programme.

The training programme was conducted jointly by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economic Development, as part of the administration’s youth employment policy.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen said that he would demand for all the educational opportunities to be provided to the youth, and at the same time demand the output expected from them. He noted that today, we must set our minds in a way that encourages the youth to pursue their dreams, instead of the conventional approach of settling for an available job. The President highlighted the numerous efforts being taken by the administration to realise the dreams of the nation’s youth.

Continuing in this regard, the Presdient said that the administration aims to create a comprehensive education system where no child is left behind. He underscored that this strategy was in place in order to create a capable youth generation, and aid them in reaching their goals. In this regard, the President pointed out the high priority accorded to youth welfare, in every endeavour of this administration.

At the ceremony held this evening, 414 students graduated from the 1000 Photographers training programme. There are currently 249 students enrolled in the programme, while 178 participants are currently employed.
