Trial of 12 opposition members will begin tomorrow !

Criminal Court has scheduled trials of 12 opposition parliament members for tomorrow. The 12 members are being charged with obstruction of the duty of law enforcement officers during their attempt to forcefully enter the parliament premises on 24th of July.

If they are found guilty, they will be jailed for four months and 12 days. The opposition members have been received summon orders from the court today. They have already been provided with the documents related to the charges and tomorrow’s hearing will be a preliminary hearing.

The members that are being charged are MP Mohammed Solih, MP Abdullah Riyaz, MP Hussein Areef, MP Aslam, MP Mohammed Abdul Kareem, MP Abdullah Shahid, MP Ibrahim Mohammed Didi, MP Moammed Falaah, MP Ali Hussein and former MP Saud Hussein, former MP Mohammed Ameeth, and former MP Mohammed Waheed Ibrahim.

The state is charging Waheed, Ameeth and Saud for entering the parliament premises illegally a well, in addition to the obstruction of law enforcement officer charges. If they are found guilty, of these charges then the jail sentence will be more than 4 months.
