Qasim’s lawyers file a case against Correctional Service for refusing to extend the travel document given to Qasim

Qasim Ibrahim’s lawyers have filed a case against Maldives Correctional Service for refusing to extend the travel document given to Qasim to travel abroad for treatment.

A statement issued by Qasim’s legal team states that, they have informed Correctional Service that Qasim Ibrahim is not fit to travel by airplane. The lawyers filed the case at Civil Court.

In addition, the statement says that Maldives Correctional Service cannot determine the length it should take to receive treatment because it should be decided by doctors. Furthermore, it states that, Qasim tried to return to Maldives in accordance with the request of Corrections but when Qasim’s medical documents were submitted to Singapore Airlines the refused to let Qasim fly.
