South Asian Seasonal Climate Outlook Forum begins

South Asian Seasonal Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF) has begun at Hotel Jen today. The forum was inaugurated by State Minister for Environment and Energy Abdullah Majeed.

The purpose of the forum is to discuss about the outlook of climate for the next three months in this region. This forum is being held with technical assistance from developed countries. Since 2010 World Meteorological Organization provides assistance to conduct this forum in one of the South Asian countries. This is the 11th forum of the kind.

Representatives from meteorological associations of South Asian Countries and technical experts of the field are taking part in the forum. These includes experts who represent regional climate centers as well. After the forum, a statement on climate forecast for the next three months will be prepared by the participants.

Some sessions of the forum will take place tomorrow as well. The official consensus forecast statement will be published on 27th September.
