A protest was held in Male’ over the actions taken by the government against Villa Group. The protestors described the actions of the government as “political attacks”.

The people who gathered at the protest condemned the actions of the government and they had placards with their views. They said that the government wants to silence the opposition.

In addition, they said that, going to the resorts and conducting operations at the resorts will damage the tourism industry and this was unprecedented in the history of Maldives.

Senior figures of opposition parties took part in today’s protest.
