Government is doing a lot of work to reduce the cost of electricity: Thoriq

Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim have said that the government is doing a lot of work to reduce the cost of electricity.
He said that, the government has distributed led lights to all households in the Maldives and this will also reduce the cost of electricity. “we are giving 5 led lights to each household. Distribution has been completed for STELCO customers. FENAKA is still distributing and under this project 300,000 light tubes will be distributed” said the minister.
In addition he said that when LED lights are used, 40 watts is reduced to 16 watts and hence the energy used will be reduced. He said that the public should also keep in mind to switch off electric appliances when they are not in use and also to use air-conditions at 25 degree.
The minister also requested the public to follow the awareness campaign conducted by the government regarding electric usage.
