MP Makhloof has urged the police not to hurt people while controlling the protests.
He said that the people had to take it to the streets after the government failed to implement the Supreme Court order of 1st February even though the whole world has been asking the government to implement it. He said that the UN and the closest countries of Maldives have asked to implement the court verdict but the government refuses to do so.
Makhloof said that the protestors might use inappropriate language since they have been oppressed for so long but they do not want to create problems. He said that they do not have any problems with the police and that they have problems with the officers who give unlawful orders to the police asking them to confront the people.
In addition he said that the people who are protesting are also Maldivian citizens and that the SO police should recognize that or else the problems will escalate.
