Speaker of the parliament, Qasim Ibrahim have said that the plan of the president-elect is to reduce the expenditure on political appointees.

Qasim said that all the matters regarding political appointees have not been finalized yet because President Maumoon one of the four coalition leaders is abroad at the moment. “We heard that he is returning on 14th November. Then things will be finalized” said Qasim.

Qasim said that once the cabinet portfolios assigned to the 4 parties are finalized, the party council will decide who to nominate for the positions. “What we know is that all the capable people within the party will not get to become a minister. There are many more capable people” said Qasim.

Qasim revealed that it is likely that Colonel Nazim might become a minister. “I do not know why Nazim cannot be among them. Based on his performance he is one of the most capable among us. He did not express his interest however if capable people are up for it, we should think about it. We should give chance to females as well. In today’s world we have to provide equal opportunities for women” said Qasim.

Colonel Nazim said that he wants to serve the people and that he is ready to serve in any area which he can.
