Two staffs of Bank of Maldives have been suspended over alleged embezzlement of millions of Rufiyaa. 

Speaking to Miadhu News, a staff of BML said that the bank is investigating the case and that they will have a clear figure of how much was stolen after the internal audit of the bank is over. 

“The money was not taken from accounts of customers. It was from the accounts of the bank which are used for bank operations said the official. 

According to some people on social media, more than 10 million Rufiyaa has been embezzled. BML is the largest bank in the Maldives and majority of Maldivians hold their accounts at the bank. 

Hence it is very important to take action against those involved as soon as possible.
