Maldivian Democratic Party MDP will have their party’s primary election on Friday to choose contestants for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Voting will take place from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A total of 279 candidates will contest in 77 constituencies in the election. There will be 270 ballot boxes around the country and in addition ballot boxes will be placed in Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. 

According to MDP more than 86,000 people will vote in the election. The party aims to make the election transparent, free and fair. The party has also requested Maldives Police Service for assistance in maintaining security during the elections. 

MDP will contest in all the constituencies in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
