Male’ City’s Mayor Shifa Mohammed has stated that the Fishermen’s Park will be closed to develop a terminal for cruise liners. She said that the park will be closed within two days. 

She said that the park will be redeveloped with modern facilities that can cater for cruise liners that visit Maldives. At the moment the cruise liners that visit Maldives have to stay 0.6 nautical miles away from Male’ due to the absence of a port and a terminal. 

According to Maldives Association of Yacht Agents, it is estimated that around 40 cruise liners will visit Maldives from October 2018 till April 2019.
