Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has stated that positive changes can be observed in the tourism sector since the current government assumed office.

He made this statement while speaking to the press about the works of the Tourism Ministry.

The Minister noted that compared to February 2018, an increase of 16.8% was seen in tourist arrivals in February this year. In addition he said that compared to the first two months of 2018, an increase of 11.7% in tourist arrivals can be seen. 

Most of the tourists to the Maldives visit from China. 17.8% of the tourist are from China. Meanwhile Italian tourist shares 10.8% of the market. The tourists from India are at 7.6%. After India the greatest number of tourists are from the UK which is 7.4%. The fifth on the list is Germany which is 6.5%.
