The Prosecutor General has requested the Supreme Court to freeze former President Yameen’s bank account.

The PG requested to freeze the former president’s accounts in Bank of Maldives, Islamic Bank Account of Maldives, and Mauritius Bank. Previously the Criminal Court ordered to freeze the accounts but the order was overturned by the High Court of the Maldives. 

However, the PG has now appealed the case at the Supreme Court and in the initial hearing held today, the PG requested to overturn the High Court order. Previously the PG requested to freeze the accounts in Islamic Bank only, however this time they have requested to freeze accounts in BML and MCB. 

In the next hearing, the Supreme Court will issue an order regarding the matter.
