Home Minister Imran Abdullah has stated that the Maldives Police Service found out Abdullah Lutfy’s whereabouts in 2014 but he couldn’t be brought back because the former Home Minister Umar Naseer did not cooperate.

Abdullah Lutfy is the mastermind behind the 3rd November 1988 terrorist attacks against the Maldives.

Speaking at the parliament today, he said that there is documentary evidence which shows that the police found out Lutfy’s whereabouts back then, but they don’t have any documentary evidence to prove that Home Minister Umar Naseer did not cooperate.

Imran said that there are delays in bringing back Lutfy because they are waiting to get a document from the Defence Ministry of Sri Lanka. Imran said that Lutfy will have to spend around 4 more years in jail.

Speaking at the parliament today the MPs also highlighted that some of the Tamil terrorists who took part in the attack were freed soon and sent back to Lanka.
