Saudi asks Muslims to wait for more clarity on covid-19 before preparing for Hajj

Government of Saudi Arabia has asked Muslims to wait for more clarity on the covid-19 pandemic planning for Hajj this year. 

The minister of Hajj and Umra of Saudi Arabia Dr.Muhammed Salih Bin Taher Banten said this while speaking to the press in Saudi Arabia. 

“We have asked the world not to rush with regards to Hajj groups until the path of the epidemic becomes clear, keeping in mind the safety of pilgrims and public health as a priority.” Said Dr.Muhammed Bin Salih.

Hajj season this year is set to begin In late July, but if the covid-19 pandemic is not controlled, Hajj this year might not take place. 

So far in Saudi Arabia 10 people have died due to covid-19. More than 1500 people have been infected in the Kingdom and authorities fear that the number is going to increase in the coming days.
