There has been a 3.8 percent decrease in Recurrent Expenditure from the National Budget so far this year, with a 70.3 percent decrease in Administrative and Operational expenses and a 15.7 percent decrease in Travel Expenditure.
According to the weekly fiscal report by the Finance Ministry, giving details of income and expenditure up to 22 May 2025, 60.9 percent of the total Recurrent Expenditure were made on Administrative and Operational expenses, which is 8.7 percent lower than the expenditure on same, during the period last year.
Looking at the Recurrent Expenditure a 70.3 percent decrease was recorded in the purchase of administrative supplies, while 27.1 percent decrease was recorded in repairs and maintenance costs. Similarly Travel Expenses recorded a decrease of 15.7 percent, compared to the period last year.
Even with these decreases, expenditure on medical insurance Aasandha ,
purchase of operational consumables, and expenses towards providing loan services were increased compared to the period last year.
As, up to 13.7 billion Rufiyaa were spent by the end of last week, it is 17.9 percent lower than the expenditure recorded in the same period last year. Recurrent expenditure showed a 3.8 percent decrease, while capital expenditure also recorded a 64.2 percent fall.
Hence over-all balance of the state budget is now surplus by 1.1 billion Rufiyaa.
