Maldives Police Service has arrested 8 people over the theft of laptops from Islamic University of Maldives.
A police media official said that 3 Maldivians and 5 foreigners were arrested regarding the case. The intelligence department and the general investigation department conducted a joint operation and arrested those involved. They were arrested with the laptops and other electronics as well.
The criminal court has remanded the three Maldivians into police custody and the police has decided to handover the foreigners to immigration since they were in Maldives illegally.
According to some sources, the laptops which were stolen were used to prepare the examinations of the university.
