Maldives Police Service has started re-investigating the cases of Dr.Afrasheem Ali, Ahmed Rilwan Abdullah and Yameen Rasheed.
Maldives Police Service tweeted today saying that they are reviewing these cases to see if any further steps can be taken.
Dr.Afrasheem was murdered in 2012 and H.Lobyy Hussein Humaam was found guilty of the murder. He was sentenced to death and the apex court upheld the verdict. However, Dr.Afrasheem’s family voiced concerns since those who planned the murder has still not been found.
Ahmed Rilwan, a journalist of Minivan News was lost in 2014. He has not been heard since then. The state prosecuted two individuals for abducting Rilwan. However, the court exonerated them.
Yameen Rasheed was stabbed to death in 2017 while entering his house. The state is charging 7 people and the trial is ongoing.
