Managing Director of ADK, Ahmed Afaal said that they will let the world know about the quality of services available at ADK and ensure that Maldives is a country where foreigners come for brain and spine surgeries.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Maldives Brain and Spine Conference 2018, Afaal said that even though Maldives is a new comer to brain and spine surgeries Maldives have made remarkable progress in the field.
Afaal said that it has been just 4 years since ADK started such operation and they have made remarkable achievements even globally. “We started our operations four years ago with Dr.Niyaf the only neurosurgeon in the Maldives even now and then. This shows that we need to train more doctors in the field” said Afaal.
He said that in the past 4 years, ADK conducted more than 700 neurosurgeries. “I believe that this is a significant number considering that we started with various challenges. Now microscopic and endoscopic brain and spine surgery can be conducted at ADK. It can be done at internationally accepted standards said Afaal.
In addition, he said that the purpose of the conference is to discuss and find room for development. He said that the first conference of the series held last year. He said that this is the largest medical and scientific conference in the Maldives and their aim is to make it the largest such conference in the whole region.
