Supreme Court of the Maldives have freed former Defense Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kileygefaanu who was serving a 10 year jail sentence after he was found guilty for his role in arresting Justice Abdullah Mohammed who was the chief judge of the criminal court.
Supreme Court issued a temporary order today stating that since the case has been filed for review, the Criminal Court verdict should not be executed at the moment and ordered not to take any action against him.
Former President Nasheed has also been freed since his case is also being reviewed. Both were sentenced to jail regarding the same case.
