Former President Nasheed have said that he heard that Maldives owes 3.2 billion dollars to China but Maldives has to pay only the amount Maldives received.
Speaking to the people of Dhihdhoo President Nasheed said that he knows how much it costs for the concrete and iron used in the bridge. He said that he also knows the cost of everything else.
He said that President-elect Solih’s administration will have to burden a lot but will still deliver the pledges made to the people.
He noted that plunging the country into debt is a huge damage to the people and that the debt can be repaid from the work done by the people. He said that even the books show that there is debt, one should carefully identify how much Maldivians actually received from that.
