During the speech delivered by the President today after taking the oath of office he got the loudest applause when he said that he will investigate the corruption of the outgoing government.
President Solih said that the financial situation of the country is at a vulnerable position and the country lost a lot due to the projects carried out by the previous government for political gains. He said that billions were lost due to corruptions at different levels. He said that it is not clear how much has been lost into corruption but none of the services for the people will be hindered because of that.
In addition he said that Maldives should get assistance from the international community in that regard and also that he is sure that the people of Maldives will trust his government in that venture.
He said those who have been deprived of their rights should be ensured that they get justice and the money lost from the treasury should be recovered. Furthermore, he said that for the nation to move forward, the truth behind unusual deaths and abductions should be unveiled.
