Countdown has begun for the 45th convention of International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors Association which will be held in the Maldives.
The convention will be held from 29th June 2020 to 3rd July 2020. The countdown was officially initiated by Tourism Minister Ali Waheed, in a ceremony held last night. The official website for the event was launched by the chief guest of the ceremony, speaker of the parliament Qasim Ibrahim.
IFAWPCA convention is one of the largest convention by the construction industry stakeholders and it is held every 18 months and the location is rotated among member nations. Hence after 2020, Maldives will get the chance to hold the convention in 2045.
Speaking at the ceremony last night, the president of IFAWPCA, Mohammed Ali Janaah said that when Maldives first tried to become a member, many were skeptical about it and asked whether Maldives can pay the membership fees.
The convention aims to strengthen relations between governments of membership countries and construction companies. In addition they try to find solutions to various challenges the industry faces.
