Police appoints the first female spokesperson !

Maldives Police Service has appointed a female officer as the institution’s spokesperson for the first time. Izmia the new police spokesperson was the third woman to become a commissioned officer in the Maldives.

She is the daughter of veteran politician Seena Ahmed Zahir. She has degree from the National Police Academy of Singapore and a masters degree in peace and conflict studies from Australia. Acting CP Hameedh tweeted saying that they have appointed a new spokesperson and said that their aim was to strengthen the relation with the public and the media.

The previous spokesperson of Maldives Police Service was Chief Superintendent Ahmed Shifan. However after the presidential election he has not spoken to the media as spokesperson.
