President Solih tried to save Maldives from a very difficult situation during his trip to India : Qasim Ibrahim

Speaker of the parliament Qasim Ibrahim have said that President Solih tried to save Maldives from a very difficult situation during his recent trip to India.

Qasim thanked the president for that. Speaking to the press after the meeting of the coalition leaders, Qasim Ibrahim praised President Solih for his conduct so far as the president. Qasim said that he hopes the coalition will work as it was working before and that JP remains committed to do that. He said that he is concerned that they were not able to reach a decision regarding the parliamentary elections.

“I hope that we will reach a decision soon” said Qasim. Speaking about PPM’s decision to support JP’s member Riyaz Rasheed in the parliamentary elections, Qasim said that President Maumoon supported Riyaz Rasheed when he contested from Qaumee Party as well and hence that is not extraordinary. In addition Qasim said that he is sad that three MPs of JP were out on the streets defending President Yameen and that the party has communicated with them regarding the matter.
