Former President Nasheed have said that MDP will contest in 86 constituencies in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He said that 280 candidates are contesting in the primaries to win the party’s ticket for these constituencies.
Speaking to the press after meeting of the coalition leaders, President Nasheed said that more than 34,000 people joined MDP and 11,000 of them were from MDP. He said that there will always be people who will work with the ruling party.
President Nasheed said that it is important to hold meetings of the leaders of the coalition and that they discussed on ways to sustain the coalition.
He said that it is important to empower the presidential commissions formed to investigate deaths and corruption. He expressed his concerns because the parliament went to recess without passing the bills sent by the government to empower the councils.
