Economic Development Minister Fayyaz Ismail have said that the ministry has requested the Housing Development Cooperation to make the beaches in Hulhumale’ usable to the public.
He said that they investigated the matter and found that the café’s which operate in the beach area are doing so without the necessary permits.
People have been complaining about the “occupation” of the beach area by café and hotel owners. Many beach front hotels and restaurants use the space limiting access to the general public.
