Health Minister Ameen have stated that the Maldives have eradicated malaria and filaria and hence he is sure that even dengue can be eradicated.
Speaking at the ceremony held to launch the program to reduce mosquitoes and other insects which spreads diseases, the minister said that the government wants to bring dengue related mortalities to zero. He said that that can be done when mosquitoes are exterminated.
Ameen said that dangerous insects like mosquitoes and rodents like rats cannot be exterminated by just one institution but it requires the combined efforts of various state institutions. He said that in that regard council, councils and construction companies need to cooperate with the program.
In addition the minister noted that the WHO always assists in such programs and thanked the organization for that.
