President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih have said that Sri Lanka is a close friend and an important partner to the Maldives.
President Solih made this statement while speaking with the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Maldives H.E Major General (Rtd.) B.R.W.M.R.A.B Thoredaniya. The Sri Lankan Ambassador paid a courtesy call to the president today.
The president stated that the role of Sri Lankan citizens are huge in the development of Maldives and also thanked the government of Sri Lanka for their special treatment to the thousands of Maldivians living in Sri Lanka.
Lankan ambassador noted that Maldives is a popular destination for Sri Lankan job seekers and said that there are many Sri Lankans working in the Maldives.
President Solih has departed to Sri Lanka on an unofficial visit today.
